- H-Street / Helsinki Sunrise by Kowton

This is the second release on Kowton’s own Pale Fire label. Here the Bristol producer serves up two thunderous straight up club bangers. ‘H-Street’ is first up with tough slightly dislocated stripped back jackin grime rhythms; relentless 909 claps drive the track rather than momentum from the kick drum. Of course theres some big old bass action but it never veers into wobble territory, the drops simply enhancing the minimal, skeletal rhythms.
‘Helsinki Sunrise’ is a similarly stripped back affair. Again a hefty dose of grime with a more techno sound palette. The skittering claps recalling some Mark Fell tracks but with a nasty grime flavour like Ruff Sqwad, complete with sirens. Will most certainly tear a few new ones through a capable soundsystem.
