Being the hopeless Nurse With Wound fan that I am, when i first clocked that this Colin Potter cassette release from the early 80s was getting a reissue on vinyl my ears were ready and waiting.

Firstly, I should say that the vinyl is half and half green and red coloured and looks like a big massive sweetie. I have to stop myself from licking it. It’s housed in a die cut sleeve so little bits of the vinyl colour are incorporated into the artwork.

With all the retro synth happenings of late it’s good to get a taste of some of the original action, and this definitely is an obscurity, well off the radar of most labels. There’s a single long track on each side, recorded live in the studio and composed with synths, drum machine guitar and some effects. Quite a ride they are too. Often I’m not particularly fond of guitars in my synth music but I can just about handle this despite the progressive/ widdly elements that I’d usually turn my nose up at.

There’s undeniably a large German influence at work across both sides, some Klaus Schulze in there for sure. This is basically what folks like Mark McGuire are up to 30 years later. Edition of 500 copies.
