Proper technoid electro action from Adapta aka Steve Connor who was of course 50% of Bitstream. Shit!!! Was their ‘Monolith’ 12” really 15 years ago? Blimey I’ve acquired several nose hairs in that time and I swear my back is getting hairier. Apologies if you happened to be eating while reading the previous sentence. I digress... anyone that knows their shit when it comes to proper futuristic forward thinking sci-fi techno/ electro will know the score when it comes to this chap’s productions.

There seems to be less folks making this style these days, certainly in the UK where every man and his dog has emigrated to reverb smothered techno or wobble step. That really baffles me as production tools are obviously more advanced and it’s the perfect format for futurism. What’s great about this EP and the Adapta stuff in general is that certainly it’s rooted in timeless, classic electro/ Detroit but there’s a contemporary freshness rather than merely nostalgia. Fans of SCSI, Touchin Bass, Conforce, Dez Williams etc. will find plenty of delicious visions of the future and machine soul here. Four cuts and not a single duffer with all being both club and home compatible. You could call them cross platform.
