9/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 27 November 2013

As discussed in previous reviews of Inga Copeland related material, I could happily listen to her sing all day. She could be singing in the chorus of a local amateur dramatics society performance of The Pirates Of Penzance and wouldn’t give a shit, I’d be front row getting my blurzz on, happy as Larry.

Here Inga has buddied up with John T. Gast, an artist I have no prior knowledge of but I’m guessing has a history of making power electronics type stuff (though don’t quote me cause that’s pure guess work). He’s certainly gone to town with the circuit-bent gadgetry on ‘Ukmerge’, crafting crunchy as hell atonal beat mush of the highest calibre. Plenty of dub treatments and surprise synth melodies make for a epic if slightly unhinged little trip

Flip it and ‘Strict’ implies footwork vibes at first with it’s tough kick drum pattern and rampant percussion outbursts, but Inga brings balance to the tough guy electronics act with some carefully placed vocal melodies here and there. It brings to mind her outrageous collab with The Bug, a real feminine vs. masculine battle of wits, and this track is all the better for her involvement. Digging as always. R.I.P Hype Williams, miss you already.
