The entire career of ol' gravel voice Mark Lanegan compressed onto a 32 track 2CD or 3LP set. He's collaborated with everyone (Josh Homme and PJ Harvey to name but two) and appeared on countless labels including Sub Pop and Beggars Banquet so for the beginner it is daunting. This will sort you out for the time being but remember  - it only goes up to 2011 and he's done loads since then. Volume 2 incoming eventually (hopefully).

Has God Seen My Shadow? An Anthology 1989-2011 by Mark Lanegan

8/10 Jack 9th February 2017

This is a wonderful anthology of Mark Lanegan's solo albums and it also features 12 previously unreleased tracks. As for the track selection, the tracks chosen are his more mellow, quiet and elegant songs. None of his more rockin' or experimental tracks are featured on this compilation. I think the tracks chosen, and their unusual placement in non-chronological order were arranged that way in order to set one specific mood for the compilation, which it does wonderfully. This one is a good start.
