I used to love Slowdive when they came out. I got flack for liking them (not sure why) and these days it’s cool to like them, though I’ve kinda moved on now being generally older, more miserable and massively fat. We’re all just waiting to die and filling in the time in between with stuff. Fuck knows where that came from.

I have to admit to not really paying a huge amount to Neil Halstead’s solo stuff or Mojave 3. I think the reason being that I couldn’t pronounce Mojave 3 and that simply annoyed me. That spilled into Neil Halsteads’ career and here we are. This lovely looking hand stamped 7” on Sonic Cathedral sees Neil covering Alison (from Slowdive’s Souvlaki album) in a very tasteful singer songwritery way, with acoustic guitar and harmonica. It’s an utterly simple and beautiful piece of music that has a classic timeless feel to it.  Flip the single over to get ‘Yer Feet’ being covered from Mojave 3’s 2nd album ‘Out Of Tune’.  "Utterly simple and beautiful piece of music" applies to this one too. Gentle music for my fragile mind.
