Always got time for Funkineven. Here we’re treated to ‘Egypt’, a techno flavoured funk workout on a Sakamoto tip with little nods going out to R&S lad Lone. Beautiful chords, lush strings and a deep bassline. Real sweet. Flip it and we get The Abstract Eye’s (a.k.a GB a.k.a Gifted And Blessed) ‘Reflexes’ which originally appeared on Eglo Records Vol. 1 CD. Sounds as good now as it did then. Warbling analog bass, crisp beats and an eerie little filtered out melody make this a most spooky little effort. Kinda reminds me of old Warp stuff with all them little blips and bloops in the background. Great 12”. Keepin’ it funkin’ for the kids.
