This avant/improv super group got together on the Sunday of Newcastle’s Tusk Festival in 2012. An event both our Brian and I attended, but we failed to catch the action captured here due to some excessive partying the previous night and this happening, I recall, was in the morning.

Well, thanks to MIE Music we lazy party fiends can imagine being back there as they’ve pressed up the recording of that very Gamelan session onto wax. Now, if my memory serves me correctly this was initially planned to be Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides together with Pelt, but somehow Michael Morley (aka Gate and of The Dead C) appears to have blagged his way into the action. Not that I’m complaining because I love the Gate stuff loads.

So anyway, in a nutshell this record is for all those folks getting together for an ultra-soothing magical gamelan performance, gently twinkling away on metallaphones, singing bowls and so on. Close your eyes and you can easily be transported to a Javanese temple rather than an old cinema in Newcastle. Very pretty indeed.
