I’ve been looking and listening to this record for a few minutes now whilst mentally composing a complaint letter to the buffoons at Coastliner buses; primarily about the bus going the wrong way. Its taken me a while to work out who the record is by but even longer to try to work out what it actually sounds like. Fis is one Oliver Perryman out of Wellington NZ. He produces a kind of dark, disorientating electronic music.
The thick post dubstep haze recalls earlier releases on Tri-Angle but this is a much more difficult listen seemingly built around percussion intended to imitate the sound of rocks falling off a cliff face. Its all tumbling beats and churning electronics. The second track is the only one that has anything vaguely resembling a tune and thats just the sound of the starter motor of a Honda moped being thrown down a well. Difficult stuff but there’s something out there for everyone.
