Immediately regretting picking this one out for review. David Woodcock is one of those singer-songwriters that likes to mix swinging 60’s London pop with music hall whilst throwing witty lyrics and bouncing piano motifs about like it ain’t no thing. I’m sure he goes down great playing to local London pub crowds but on record it sounds like Chas’n’Dave covering Madness.
I can barely bring myself to listen to the whole of the A-side. The B-side isn’t doing him any favours either. Wish he’d stop bouncing about on that piano like Jools Holland. Honky tonkin’.

Ha ha ha! I actually saw Chas Hodges playing live in my local and he was supported by David Woodcock! I mentioned the comparison and both were flattered to bits. Thanks Li'l Biz for what is essentially, a great review no matter how you try to dress it up as otherwise. Mwah! xxxxxxxx

Strange review for me as all the descriptions of Woodcock's music really appeal to my tastes! I love swinging 60’s London pop with music hall mixed in and witty lyrics and bouncing piano motifs! The reviewer says it like it is a bad thing but I totally disagree, I love this single! Chas and Dave covering Madness?? A dream come true! Fantastic single and great live performer if you ever get the chance to see him. Top notch stuff.

Agree Melody, great single. Translates from live to vinyl perfectly for me. Can't fault it and agree, Chas and Dave covering Madness - why would anyone have a problem with that??!
