Woah there grizzly bear, what are these lush sounds flying over the great big pond we call the Atlantic Ocean? Well, its a lovely laid back album of smooth grooves from electronic post -whatevers Kiln. Now I’d have sworn I’d never heard of Kiln, but there it is in black and white my review of an earlier work cowering in a far flung nook of the internet.
They produce the kind of clever but sweet electronic music that usually emerges out of Chicago, the kind of town where even the river flows backwards. A little bit of Tortoise, a whole heck of a lot of the chilled bleep of the sadly missed Telefon Tel Aviv. Moving away from the post rock stylings of their earlier work, they produce a kind of glistening warm electronica which will appeal to fans of To Rococo Rot, ‘Moth and Moon’ is particularly impressive marrying their crackly static to a kind of soundtracky soup.
The precision in the intricate beats and cuts music is stunning yet the overall result is warm, ethereal and enjoyable not just for the head nodders and beard twitchers.
8/10 Doddsy Customer review, 30th December 2013
When the last track finishes and it begins again you are gently led to what feels like music so you have never heard, but is like something you have missed for a long time The tracks take you on a journey that is uncomplicated but slowly mesmerising; it's like cooking 10 varieties of pasta for 40 minutes, they are made of the same ingredients but don't they look (to the ears) so different! Outstanding tracks are there none as they all make up the most ethereal scrapbook of musical delight to consume, with attention to texture, shape, duration and additional ingredients - just like pasta This is a dream collection of music that calmly moves you to wonder how good 2014 could be
