9/10 Phil Staff review, 14 November 2013
It’s been such a long time since Ultravox released a hit, and that song ‘Feed The World’ song Midge did with rugged trampface Geldof, but it’s nice to finally have him back making music. Oh this isn’t Midge Ure? It’s Majeure? That Anthony Pattera fella from Zombi who isn’t Steve Moore? Ah! Better start again....
Here’s a new EP by Zombi dude Anthony Pattera and in case you’re not familiar with his now reasonably extensive back catalogue then you should be. Well certainly if you’re a fan of synths and all things kosmische then you should be as that is what he does rather well. On this EP/LP there’s 2 new tracks to cosmic yourself off with. New age sounding synths with wooshy wind noises combine to make you think you’re actually living inside a Roger Dean painting (if you’re high enough that is).
It’s all very space/ sci fi sounding electronic music and the copter sounding noise on the flipside ‘Falcon Searider’ is like Airwolf meets Blade Runner. Then the disco comes in. I was waiting for that. Another excellent EP/LP (hard to say for sure which but it’s 22 mins long) by Majeure.
