Well this has been pouring out this week.

Premiere release on Newcastle (way-aye) label The Old Noise, this one has two sides of very different takes on swirling space jams. Glasgow’s The Cosmic Dead do a superb krauty piece that was so long that I managed to pack an entire box of your lovely orders whilst listening to it. The track retains interest, however, with some seriously Jah Wobble style bass wanderings and some propulsive drumming that edges towards a new plateau of intensity each time you think it must have surely reached its peak.

In the 80s it was de rigeur to name a band twice (Duran Duran are the only proof you need) but we are in 2014 now, things have moved on, and so on the other side we get Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. Thats seven lots of Pigs. Impressive. They are a much heavier, rockier affair tapping into the 70s space rock of Hawkwind and Motorhead. They are from Newcastle and the vocalist screams as if his testicles are caught in the Swing Bridge over some seriously heavy rifferama which veers between chaotic bursts of noise and apocalyptic ascensions.
