It’s Time Released Sound time again, this time they’ve gone all out with a massive 2CD offering with an album by The Angling Loser (Lee Anthony Norris and buddies) on the first disc and blissful reinterpretations of that material from characters like Ishq, Solipsism, Shambala Networks, Stormloop and, ahem, Sir Cliff. “Nice to see he’s still doing stuff,” says Phil. As usual you’ve got the choice of a normal version and an expensive super-limited one with mind-bottlingly deluxe hand-assembled packaging.

Anyway, I’m listening to the first CD right now and it’s thoroughly lovely, gently lapping minimal compositions with soft womb-like synth swells and distant echoing guitar twinkles with tranquil field recordings adding hushed, fluttering details. It’s a slow-moving suite but its languid melodies flow like a feather-light syrup, a calming tide of patient throbs and drones and tinkles which stretches lazily over a mammoth hour-long ambient relaxo session. The remixes are similarly sleepy and delightful. Thoroughly classy and understated stuff as always from this label.
