Meat Market - a great name for a band, I’m sure we can all agree, but what do they sound like? Well, I just put the needle down on their new 7” and they sound like energetic punky power-pop with bright and slightly glammy delivery which has shades of Marked Men, Young Offenders, Heavy Times, even the Dwarves. The guitars are big and dirty and laden with cheeky hooks, the drums are sloppy and frantic, and there’s some gang-up backing vocals which make for quite a full, chunky sound. On the B side there’s an instrumental which is a catchy bit of garage punk too. If you were into the Young Offenders’ ‘Leader of the Followers’ LP you should check this out.
