I recall the Thanes from back in the day when I used to peruse Bucketful of Brains magazine as if my life depended on it. Here they are older, wiser and with all their 60’s jangle pop characteristics in place. Its quite astonishing that a band existing in 2013 can sound so much like it was recorded in 1965. Its all jaggedy 12 string, rattling Keith Moon style drumming and layers of thick organ. An utterly perfect replication of the sound  blueprinted by the likes of The Seeds, The Sonics and Thirteenth Floor Elevators.

The A Side is a tumbling, tumultuous blast of 60’s psych which shimmies along at a fair old whack whilst on the flip ‘Love is Fading Away’ is a cover of a Poets songs written back in 1965 and offered as a tribute to the late Poets frontman George Gallagher. Its another slice of perfect jangly 60’s Searchers-like pop with insidious melodies and lashings and lashings of 12 string guitar. Excellent, authentic 60’s style guitar pop.
