Here’s the latest from Brighton bedroom maverick Theo Verney, who recorded every instrument on this five-song EP of grunge-splattered psychedelic garage pop, opening with take-no-prisoners ‘Heavy Sunn’, which takes Ty Segall Band or Fuzz’s brutalist distorto-garage into sludgy biker rock territory before easing off the gas for ‘Lobotomy’, which chimes and chugs along krautily before exploding into a strangled caveman thud.

Turn the record over and there’s three more of the same Ty Segall/Tight Phantomz churning distorto-rock. ‘Wake Me Softly’ takes Nirvana-esque advantage of the quiet verse/loud chorus trick, ‘Wailing Road’ is a chugging bit of psych rock like a really unhinged BRMC, and finally ‘Count It Up’ is another garagey grunge song. A strong EP, I particularly like the dirty wah abuse of the title track.

9/10 David Malys Customer review, 29th November 2013

The British Mikal Cronin/Ty Segall? This was my initial thought when I first came across a track streaming from this EP, it definitely shares the same fuzzed up garage sounds of those too, as well as the mellower poppier moments. Having played this a fair few times now i'm even more convinced of that initial assessment. The artwork is fitting of it title, very impressed with the hand drawn quality of it, and if you look carefully enough you can make out little stick people seemingly panicking and running for their lives. Which is what i'd do if I saw the sun looking like that
