5/10 Ian Staff review, 23 January 2014
One Little Indian releases this latest album by Icelandic singer songwriter Asgeir, his debut album in Iceland has outsold the likes of Bjork, Sigur Ros and Emiliana Torrini, this is his first worldwide release for the OLI label.
Translated from Icelandic to English by John Grant and written by his 72 year old father, ‘In The Silence’ is pretty run of the mill singer/songwriter stuff really, with a soft soulful voice and a tinkle of acoustic guitar and piano this will sit nicely next to your David Gray and Ray Lamontagne albums.
There’s a few bits of nice electronica in there like on ‘King And Cross’ and ‘Going Home’, other than that it’s quite bland and inoffensive, one for late night dinner parties maybe?
