Here’s an LP of synth-heavy psychedelic dream-rock from Norway’s Lovecult (a moniker which presumably tips the hat to psych-rock compatriots Motorpsycho) although sonically they’re closer to the detached, drifty dream-gaze business that you hear from the likes of Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, only with a higher amount of silky late-night synth action. Sometimes it sounds a bit like Primal Scream but a Primal Scream that has been frozen in carbonite and is only able to transmit its songs telepathically through psychic interpreters the Alabama 3.

Sonic Boom has been involved in this record at the mixing stage so things sound good and there’s a few tracks where I’m sure I can detect a bit of Spacemen 3 influence, although a closer comparison would probably be ‘Automatic’-era JAMC. Still it’s very sleek sounding and widescreen, with vocals and crunchy electronic beats all smeared with neon guitars and lashings of synth. Fans of chilly psych-pop with a robotic edge, look no further.
