I’ve been in sound art freefall this afternoon, starting with the Coil inspired dreadscapes from Ela Orleans & Skitter, the eerie scrape and clank of an album made entirely from metal objects, and the skeletal lo-fi synth dread of Pod Blotz. This new Federico Durand LP is similarly atmospheric, with sleepy drones, reassuring field recordings and gentle touches of wind chimes, music box, player piano, arranged in an airy, spacious manner so as to always occupy that meditative space in between silence and music. It’s hard to find a lot to say about it in my present frame of mind, thirstin’ for a tune, but it’s a pleasant, therapeutic excursion which will ease your tension after a long hard day.
