Yeah tell me about crazy fucking dreams. My god.  Taking Michael Stipe and Peter Buck to a Leeds industrial estate to meet with a very overweight and slovenly David Holmes was just the tip of last nights oddball affair. Anyway Bangers create enjoyable punky racket with some of the most gravel-voiced singing I’ve heard in a while. The lad must gargle nails. Its all backed with chugging distorted guitars and melodies that are just on the right side of the be-shorted punk pop brigade.

I’m thinking Husker Du and Jawbreaker. They don’t always take the easy indie/emo punk route though; ‘Blind Hindsight’ has more of a complicated song structure than you might expect and ‘Captains Log’ sounds a little like Manchester shouters Dub Sex given a Californian punk makeover.  This is generally decent stuff, I’m thinking Descendents, early Lemonheads with melodies firmly intact. The vocals recall a gruff punk rock take on The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn with the same first -person type reminicenses  - without, of course sounding anything like a Bruce Springsteen tribute band.
