Here we have a mighty collaboration between two of electronic ambient music’s leading forces, Vancouver’s Scott Morgan aka Loscil joins forces with a Mr Brock Van Wey of Bvdub fame to release ‘Erebus’, a dark choral ambient album split into five passages. Each has been named after a figure from ancient Greek mythology. The first piece ‘Aether’ leads us in with an angelic voice that grows and grows with hypnotic effect; ‘Hespiredes’ soars above the clouds in a giant wash of ghostly vocals that leave you almost breathless.

Morgan and Van Wey have developed a close relationship with Alessandro Tedeschi’s Glacial Movements label over the years, releasing a few records on the label between them and now putting their heads together for this mammoth album. The two artists have melded their signature sounds perfectly into a breathtaking 70 minutes of absolute mesmeric soundscapes, melding cathedral-esque drones with dreamy ethereal voices to create a sound that goes beyond any typical electronic composition.
