This is the latest album from Swedish composer of electronic and classical music Mikael Lind, released on the Time Released Sound Label and mixed by Alex Somers (of Parachutes and Jonsi and Alex fame), ‘Unsettled Beings’ is a nice mix of classical and folktronica and features friend and fellow musician Paul Evans on violin and Ryan Karazija from Low Roar on vocals. It’s a kind of stripped back Sigur Ros with a little more piano and strings thrown in. Lind flits between Scotland and Iceland to write and record his music which stands out quite a lot in its twinkly Icelandic kind of way, the piano flutters along nicely while the strings and very minimal percussion flitter around like snowflakes.

Lind’s previous works have been that of a more ambient/electronica sound mixed with various stringed instrumentation; on ‘Unsettled Beings’ however he has opted for a more minimal classical piano led sound and with great effect too. Most of the tracks here are very soft and soothing with the exception of ‘Choleric Witch Doctor’ which has a very interesting bossa nova rhythm to it. Plain and simple nice floaty music for ice capped mountains!
