If they keep releasing records at such a prodigious rate, Bella Union might finally release one that I like. This is not it but I think it may still have some general appeal. Formerly known as Lulu and the Lampshades it's a slice of upbeat reggae influenced bright sparkling pop music. The edge is supplied by some slightly post-punk guitars and the class is provided by some excellent female vocals that reminds me (possibly ridiculously) of Neneh Cherry.

The track starts like an express train but then seemingly slows down for ages, then launches into a xylophone solo, the bass playing is nice and rubbery. So you sort of get a bit of PiL type instrumentation but it's also very commercial, so much so than I can see them now on Later Live with Jools swinging his arms about as the applause dies down. Has anyone ever not been clapped on Jools Holland’s show? Because there was some justification for Franz Ferdinand’s second tune on last week's show being met with an embarrassed wall of silence. Anyway this is good but is not for miseries like me.
