When I first put this 7” on I thought I’d done my classic wrong-speed trick again and was ready to switch it to 33rpm when the vocals came in and proved me wrong. It does play at 45, Future Glue just have a real fast’n’tinny aesthetic. About halfway through the Eddy Current-esque romp on the A side it all falls apart into a weary post-blues jam with a load of harmonica parping, eventually grinding to a halt and then bursting back in DHDFDs-style with one last verse of goofy percussive garage punk. Then there’s a Syd Barrett (or “Barratt” as he’s credited on the sleeve) cover which lasts less than a minute.
Flip it and there’s more garagey rock, which doesn’t surprise me after hearing the first side. But...is that a banjo? Sounds well Meat Puppets. In the second half it almost falls apart but not quite. That seems to be a recurring theme with this lot. So basically it’s a mixture of that post-blues country-grunge sound of PW Long’s bands like Mule and a more amorphous skin-of-your-pants semi-freeform noise punk of Louisville’s Tropical Trash. Pummelling yet psychedelic. I like this.

Wow, this band are really taking off. Loved the sound when played at full revs..... chunky, edgy it is all it should be. can't wait to see this band perform live... knockout stuff that gets better every time I slap it on the turntable
