9/10 Ian Staff review, 20 November 2013
A supergroup featuring the talents of Chris Brokaw (Come, Codeine), the mighty Bob Weston (Shellac, Mission Of Burma) and Elisha Wiesner (Kahoots) is gonna be pretty tasty no matter what it sounds like really. Martha’s Vineyard Ferries is exactly what you’d expect from these guys too, one part heavy bass crunching post-hardcore and the other part classic punk songwriting.
Considering that this band started out as a bit of a joke it’s turned into something quite special, with a few songs reminding me of Jawbreaker but with Brokaw’s thundering drums giving it that extra oomph. Other songs have echoes of each member's past recorded output: imagine Come’s discordant love songs with Shellac’s industrial bass klang and you’re about half way there.
