Kyoto’s Cuushe has taken her time conjuring up this sequel to 2009’s ‘Red Rocket Telepathy’ debut, but good things come to those who wait as they say, so fans of her airy dreampop stylings can expect a treat this week as she drops 10 new tracks on an unsuspecting public. She’s got a really beautiful aesthetic, backing her breathy, wistful vocals with warm swathes of soft synthpop and distant, indistinct shoegazey crunch. Think Cocteau Twins and Takako Minekawa and Sapphire Slows and Saint Etienne all going for a cream tea and a game of crazy golf.

It’s a beautifully blurred, indistinct take on pop music, with bright melodies and warm tones all blurred together into a subtle soup of quite dense and uplifting driftpop which is never too jarring or forceful. I’m particularly enjoying ‘Twilight’, a densely layered woozy late night dreamer with sultry washes of vocals and synths dripping sensuously over a rickety skeleton of gracefully clattering beats. This is pretty magical stuff.
