- Indiana Drones by Indiana Drones

This Indiana Drones album - a collaboration between Material Object and Phonaut - was originally supposed to come out on Pete Namlook’s +49-69/450464 imprint but sadly its completion coincided with Namlook’s untimely passing and so it has been released on Carpe Sonum as a tribute to the late ambient big-hitter.
What’s going on once you put the plastic disc in your record spinner is a kind of cosmic sci-fi ambience on a bed of industrial throb’n’grate unease like Throbbing Gristle going to an opium party at JD Emmanuel’s house. Sleepy mechanical drones rub up against bright, discordant synth trails as they hypnotically worm into your subconscious, a strangely paranoid and isolatory deep space voyage where full-blown cabin fever lurks just round the corner. The name is a solid pun so I’ll let it slide but sonically the vibes here aren’t so much ‘Indiana Jones’ as ‘Eraserhead’ competing with Nate Young to see who can sound the spookiest. Queasy.
