7/10 Clinton Staff review, 06 September 2013
Slightly misleading name there Bill. Bill comes along and Bill writes lovely slices of music, Bill has beard, Bill tends his beard, Bill gets Norman involved. Bill writes lovely piano tunes and Bill asks lady to sing sweetly, Bill covers Moondog, Bill thinks about Moondog’s beard. Sorry....sorry, I thought I was David Peace for a minute. Anyone attempting to read ‘Red or Dead’ has my sympathies.
Anyway in plain English this is a very pleasant new album from Bill Wells who provides lovely delicate, gentle piano compositions. There are three female vocalists who all sing in that very sweet naive Pastels-like way. The music is composed in that manner of where scottish people write in the style of Brian Wilson or Burt Bacharach. Very melodic and pleasant, I’ve never heard an album so soft and gentle, its the musical equivalent of touching the hair of a Bedlington Terrier.
