So a glance at the press release tells me that this lot are hyped to the gills and the NME have compared them to Suede, but I shall put that to the back of my mind and try to be objective about this 7” nonetheless. Actually this isn’t bad, a chunky blast of post-grunge with admirably beefy guitar and bass and lean, uncluttered arrangements which instantly brings to mind the likes of Mudhoney, Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins.

On the B side they slow things down for a weird bit of scratchy fuzzpop with a sunny Smashmouth bounce to it which I really can’t make my mind up about. It’s certainly catchy and has a chunky ‘90s charm to it, but it’s got the sickly bubblegum aftertaste of post-grunge crowd-pleasers like Lit or Everclear or Symposium. I’d have loved it when I was 15.
