8/10 Mike Staff review, 19 September 2013
Psychedelic power-popsters The Resonars have been peddling an impeccably observed brand of ‘60s psychedelia since way before it resurged in recent years. If you rewind all the way back to 1998 this lot were whacking out Beatles/Who/Nuggets-worshipping pop on their debut album while the rest of the world wept openly to ‘OK Computer’.
Your failure to check them out has finally been rewarded this week by Trouble In Mind, who put out this 14-song collection which collects the finer moments of their five-album back catalogue in a dizzy sugar rush of Tame Impala meets The See See psychedelia. Big Beatlesy harmonies, fast-janglin’ surfy guitars and surging rhythms all joined up by great hooks which take you right back to the swingin’ ‘60s. This is as authentic as you can get without just going ahead and buying records FROM the ‘60s.
