Ooh a new Infraction. It’s been a while. We’ve missed you guys! Anyone remember Kiln? Well before Kiln came Fibreforms and weirdly I was listening to the ‘Stone EP’ recently by these guys (came out in 1997 and is awesome) and then days later this puppy arrives! What are the chances? It’s not like I knew it was coming or anything! Honest...
I’ve never heard 'Treedrums' before though and this is a limited reissue of 300 lovingly packaged (as is everything on the label) with a little booklet crammed with stoney imagery! This sounds great though. It’s been restored and tinkered with to give it the maximum oomph factor. Apparently this documents their transition from a live performance trio to the sound art trio they became. It’s totally gorgeous as well! It’s not your standard ambient Infraction release at all. There’s some amazing drums on here and whoever has produced this remastered version has done a great job as it’s really full sounding. It’s somewhere in between early Tortoise and latter Talk Talk. The melodies are falling straight from my ears down to my mouth and making it smile. It’s a long while since I’ve heard an album with such warm and rich sounding instrumentals as this one. I can pretty much guarantee that if reading this has convinced you to check it out that you’ll definitely cherish this album.
