The first of these Dark Acid collections on Clan Destine sold out really fast and had to be repressed (and rightly so ‘cause it’s ace) and now here’s another with loads of familiar faces doing as advertised and making some dark acid house madness all over the place. It starts with Black/Tract (Ela Orleans & Marie Liden) knocking out a woozy sample-laden take on the genre before Tropics of Cancer (two of Golden Teacher) produce what the press release describes as “a epic acid face melter”. It is pretty intense, if you like your synths fast, rhythmic and bloopy it’ll push all your buttons.

Over on the other side Golden Teacher themselves kick things off with a wild rhythmic house ritual that’s both cosmic and supremely danceable. It grooves and grooves with lots of energy, creative rhythms and pumping minimal synth lines. Looking forward to that lot hitting Leeds this weekend. Then Claire (aka Elise Tippins, one half of Featureless Ghost) has a slow-burning number ‘The Line’ led by a heavy bass drum pulse and some drifty swooping synths and blurred vocals. Finally Stefan Blomeier knocks it out of the park with ‘They Have No Place In Paradise’, full of murky distorted synths and old-skool house beats layered together with a dizzying abandon, going nuts with all sorts of sweet vintage equipment and getting wrapped up in some bonkers talkbox action. It’s like Palm |/ Highway Chase gone bunker punk. Another great 12”, you should pick this (and the first one) up while they’re still about!
