8/10 Clinton Staff review, 14 February 2014
Ok I want to make it clear that I’m not going to sit through the full three hours of this. Its Valentines Day and as you can imagine I have mountains of cards to open.
This is the second (I think) solo album from the man behind the increasingly woeful BVdub and from the looks at the sales figures its flowing out our office at a rate of knots. And so it should, its a double CD full of his churning electronic loops, sampled vocals and general new-agey bliss-dub. It certainly sounds a hell of a lot better than those recent BVdub disasters. The sounds are much more organic and there is more of a dub techno feel to the proceedings, the voices are less intrusive and the atmospheres conjured up have the grainy monochrome feel of the more soothing end of the dub techno spectrum.
Its much more in fact like his earlier BVDub work like ‘The First Day’. So if you have three hours to spare where you are not doing very much other than sit staring out of a rain lashed window pane then this could help fill in the time.
