Here’s a Black Rain 12” on Blackest Ever Black, featuring Stuart Argabright’s (Ike Yard, Dominatrix, Death Comet Crew) first new material under his Black Rain moniker in more than 15 years! In fact the last thing he put out was in 1996 so that means I was about 13 or 14 at the time, so unsurprisingly I’ve not been exposed to much of his work before now.

There are three songs on one side of this record and one on the other and as far as I can tell the first side plays at 33 and the second at 45. The sounds on the disc are a mixture of gritty dystopian dark ambience and stumbling, murky bunker-techno beats, very much the kind of thing our Ant would have a lot to say about, I think. It’ll appeal to fans of Vatican Shadow, Demdike Stare, Old Apparatus and the like. Best suited to headphone listening in the middle of the night drinking special brew while a thunderstorm rages outside the window.
