Prayers have been answered, finally some relatively speaking widely available vinyl from Alberich. ‘Machine Gun Nest: Cassette Works, Vol. 0LP’ cherry picks tracks from a slew of sought after out of print releases on Hospital Productions from Dominick Fernow’s right hand man Kris Lapke, who also records with Fernow as Christian Cosmos and plays black metal with him in Ash Pool. Does a ton of mastering for Hospital Productions as well as production on recent Prurient material.
This is so great I don’t even know where to begin. It’s simultaneously brutal, pummeling and harsh yet manages to be a thing of real beauty. This is proper dark industrial machine music gloom. Battleship grey electronics throb, grind and pulsate yet there’s a glow of emotional warmth that somehow counteracts the coldness. Of course there is total oblivion as in ‘Paneriai’ which is a full on industrial techno noise assault that will melt your face off. But then there’s the quiet introspective dark ambient bliss of ‘No Mistake’ that allow a brief respite from the sonic assault.
Bits of the record recall the Christian Cosmos tracks, Prurient’s ‘Through The Window’ and ‘Bermuda Drain’ records, Vatican Shadow, Violet Poison as well as older/ classic industrial/ EBM/ noise/ darkwave stuff. This guy knows how to crank them out good and proper - would love to witness this stuff live through a monster soundsystem. I’d be lucky to return home alive. Totally loving this record. Edition of 500 copies.
