As you might expect from a 7” called ‘Go Easy’ by a band called Blank Realm, this is a slacker indie record, and really good it is too. There’s dual boy-girl vocals which sound like the two of them are so stoned that they can only barely get the words out, while the fuzzy guitar and lolloping drums exhibit similar signs of being tired and lazy and wilting in the oppressive sunshine. There’s something quite surfy about the guitar but in a super laid back way like Link Wray meets Paul Johnson.

Things liven up a bit (but not loads) on the other side for ‘Cannibal Walk’, a cool bit of lo-fi autonomous rock which brings names like Devo, A Frames and Servotron to mind, but with a stripped back post-punk thing going on with shades of The Fall. It’s not as slack as ‘Go Easy’ but just as good. Quality 7”.
