- After The Flood by Isnaj Dui
Here’s another of Hibernate’s highly collectible postcard editions with the three inches of loveliness this time coming from Isnaj Dui, or Katie English to her friends, who has created this 20-minute piece in response to 2012’s floods, and was played last month on loop for several nights at Hebden Bridge’s Nutclough House Hotel Cellars as an installation piece.
It’s a mixture of gently swelling drones, comprised of what sounds like violin and flute, which lap along like gently bobbing tides while underneath there are subtle field recorded drips and trickles and splashes. As the piece progresses there are some weird crackling noises too, like the recording equipment itself is becoming gradually submerged, but it’s not a panicky style of ambience at all, just gently lapping languid peace drones. Sleepy, beautiful stuff.
