Explosions In The Sky team up with fellow Texan David Wingo to produce this soundtrack to David Gordon Green’s latest film project ‘Prince Avalanche’, starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. The film sees two friends leave their hometown on a job to paint traffic lines on a wildfire ravaged country road. The two open up to each other in a way they never expected and the friendship is tested to its limits. David Gordon Green approached EITS to score this film as their music has fit so well with other films and TV productions like ‘Friday Night Lights’ and ‘The Diving Bell And The Butterfly’.
This score has the texan post-rockers veer away from their trademark epic guitar sound to a more sparse acoustic approach, with the theme of the film being that of solitude then this style fits perfectly. EITS create little snippets of heartfelt emotion here, painting a musical picture with bucket loads of catharsis, it’s very rare for me to hear a soundtrack before I’ve seen the film but hearing this has definitely inspired me to go and see ‘Prince Avalanche’, besides Paul Rudd being one of my favourite actors, Explosions In The Sky have always made music that’s perfect for the big screen.
