Its the moment you have all been waiting for. The where-were-you happening for the twitter generation. The buzz in the queue for the sandwich van this morning was palpable, people tapping into their phones, word spreading up and down the line (which increasingly resembles that of a Minor Threat concert in ‘81). Yup its a new song by the Pi.............sorry.....Franz Ferdinand. Its 2006 again....although I always felt there was something of the Modern Romance about Franz.....the floppy hair, the instant loss of credibility with Top of the Pops aiming fluff , Franz Ferdinand with ‘Do You Want You?’, Modern Romance with ‘Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey’.

Their previous album was deemed to be an experimental work ahead of release but nerve was lost somewhere between recording and delivery and the result was the same old scene. This new single is a jaunty slightly ska-influenced affair which has at least one chord change of note before swiftly going back to the verse. The bit where he sings ‘good morning’ is so much like Haircut 100 that I want to punch Nick Heyward in the face. Any excuse eh? There is no chorus as such, there’s a bridge then and end bit where they resort to ‘do do do’ ing, but where is the chorus? Paging Domino records, paging Domino records - one of your boys’ choruses has gone missing.

The B side starts with fuzzy Thin Lizzy guitar solo before launching into something that is pretty much as banal as it gets. So no return to ‘form’ and if the album is as bad as this then I think they might as well give up.

Absolutely love this fresh, great quality music. I don't respect the negative reviews at all, because, quite frankly, they're wrong and offer a contrary opinion to anybody with ears and good open taste.

2/10 Ferdinand Franz Customer review, 30th June 2013

Pleased to see that these lot are still going. Wait a minute, no I'm not.

This is shite of the highest order. So shite that I fully expect them to be heading Glastonbury next year.

How I wish this band would do one. Fat chance it seems, not until the UK's supply of suckers runs out.

9/10 Gregoriomazzo Customer review, 29th June 2013

Extremely biased review. I find the single to be great. Though I respect your opinion I have to say that not having a chorus does not mean that a song is bad. You having problems with that though means you are close minded.

By the way, why does the fact that they are (somewhat) popular seem to be a detriment. Great songs, direct, catchy even if too loud for my taste. If you don't like them beforehand as seems to be the case with this writer this will not change your mind (well, you never know...). If you do you will cotinue to like them. if you don't know them (let's face it they've been gone for a while) YOU SHOULD.
