What we’ve got here is seven songs of quite upbeat krauty post-rock with synths and liberal use of the delay pedal. I’ve heard this band DeathRowRadio before and don’t remember them being quite as uplifting as this here CD, but it was a long time ago and my tastes have probably matured since then. The songs here tend to have quite a driving feel with insistent rhythms and simple repetitive melodies.

It’s got quite a hypnotic quality to it and nobody in the office seems to be distressed by the fact it’s playing, which is always a good sign. I think I’ve said this about another record this morning (the new Eat Lights Become Lights LP on GPS, which will appeal to the same people I expect) but there are places where it sounds like early M83 when they were still a shoegaze/post-rock prospect rather than the pure ‘80s pop they’re up to now. This is solid stuff, though, and no dawdling - on this album D_rradio get to the point quickly and then keep the sweet repetitive grooves going rather than pissing about with build-ups and the like, and it works excellently. Great combination of chilled out bliss vibes but at a motivational BPM. Totally enjoyable.
