I’ve not heard much drifty synth stuff for awhile. No, honestly I haven’t. I used to complain all the time about the reams and reams of it we’d get here at the towers but unless the powers that be are keeping it away from me then it all seems to have died down a bit. On Home Normal (not heard much from them either) this is an album full of beautiful synth washes.

The second track in particular sounds like the synth sounds of Foreigner’s ‘A Girl Like You’, which is no bad thing. Having had some issues sleeping, I have been desperate for some dreamy narcoleptic music to attempt to send me tumbling over the edge into glorious slumberland. This record would be perfect, its like clouds put to music, the softest thing in the world, like the most soft cuddly duvet pulled right up over your head.  Its churning sound recalls my favourite sleep records (both by BVDub) and the vast back catalogue of the equally evocative Celer.

Chronovalve was involved in the Smallfish label a few years ago but unlike labelmates like Celer had drifted off the radar but this is a stunning return for both artist and label. If variation is the name of the game then you might want to look away now but for an album full of the most gorgeous undulating sleep inducing driftiness then this is close to perfect. Beautiful music.
