Eat Lights Become Lights eschew their usual motorik groove for something a lot more slowly evolving and euphoric, like an updating on the Ibiza chill out sound, orchestral samples bounce and dance across the grooves. Its reminding me of a sleeked-out version of one of the 90’s dance classics, I’m thinking Underworld maybe is it ‘Born Slippy’? But its a nice glistening piece, extremely loudly mastered, that’s twice now someone has had to walk over to turn it down to save everyone’s eardrums.
I’m curious to hear the B side by Twelve which is the new project by Chris Olley from Six By Seven. Its a pulsing krauty affair with a downward chord sequence with arpeggiated bell type sounds, pulsating drums and muttered snatches of voice beneath the mix. I think the lad has been listening to that Can box set. The second track starts of pretty much exactly like Kraftwerk’s ‘Autobahn’, I can also hear glimpes of early Depeche Mode (circa ‘Dreaming of Me’) in the jittery synths but generally its on a kraut -rock tip with a nice lightness of touch and some nice jangling guitar that gives the tune a nice, warm human feel. Lovely stuff!
