Ancient Methods unleash the seventh release on the Ancient Methods label with this four track belter.
Going straight for the jugular with the no nonsense ‘Knights and Bishops’ which kicks off sounding a bit like Patrick Pulsinger’s ‘Construction Tool’ then builds with a hammering 4/4, gritty loops, industrial grinding and a slight acidic sound into a peaktime techno floor burner complete with noisy breakdown.
‘Kings and Pawns’ has a slower tempo machine chug with heavy as hell slamming kick, dark and sinister atmospherics and dusty hardcore/ mentasm style synth. This is one to really get lost in. Meanwhile ‘When All Is Said And Done’ offers up some proper machine funk with mechanical metallic rhythms, vocal drones and wicked dancefloor compliant groove. This is bound to be soundtracking some total debauchery on the dancefloor.
Finally ‘Castling Becomes Inevitable’ is industrial strength metal on metal clanging, primitive overloaded primal pounding and machine gun blazing noise. It sounds like some army of giants destroying the world. Occasionally a mournful melody appears injecting some beauty into the gloom.
As always the reliable Ancient Methods deliver the goods for dark industrial techno fiends. Four strong tracks make this Highly recommended as is anything by Ancient Methods.
