- Alien, All Too Alien by My Cat Is An Alien

Dauntingly prolific Italian brothers My Cat Is An Alien have been freaking people out with their “instantaneous composition” improvisations for many years now and collaborated with basically everybody, but it’s good to hear they’re still on fine form on this stupidly limited LP for Trensmat.
Over the course of two side-long tracks Roberto and Maurizio Opalio stretch and warp the fabric of time itself with their burbling, hypnotic soundscapes, with guitars, zither, wordless wailing and all manner of toys and percussion building a surprisingly dense, busy tapestry of noise which is constantly shifting, with weird looped guitar flourishes melting into shrieking radio static and feedback or chirruping, broken sounding electronic primitivism.
It can get a bit harsh at times and it is a bit of a relief on the second side where things slow down to a wheezing two-note accordion and some playfully understated NNCK-esque free percussion. This is deeply psychedelic and a bit of a difficult listen (not everyone in the office is into it...I’m hearing “I think they’re just lazy, they think they can just improvise some shit and put a record out, they should put more effort in, etc”), but fans of the duo’s brand of improvisation and all you freaks out there who are looking for something rare and weird to trip out to will be excited to get your hands on this.
