Think Sheffield's answer to The Black Keys.

Well, actually, the two brothers that form one of Britain's most nail-bitingly exciting new bands are from Castleton but for all intents and purposes they are a Sheffield band. The brothers - Rory and Eoin Loveless - have created music that seems apt for some kind of apocalyptic future. One bangs the drums while the other hammers his guitar; it is not pretty music but it fucking rocks and that's all that really matters.

The duo do have a sinister nature about them which could easily be because of the band's guttural name that sounds like the title of an obscure foreign horror film. Their music, however sinister it may be, is violently thrilling. The brothers combine heavy drumming, angry distorted guitar riffs and sleek, brooding lyrics for a raw and emotive effect. These three elements combined create something truly special on 'Backwaters' and the b side 'Necromance is Dead'.

So, rejoice! Drenge may well be the saviours of rock music in 2013.
