“My girlfriend went to the Caribbean”. “Jamaica?” “No, she went of her own accord”. Ha ha ha ha. Oh brilliant. Always start with a joke rubbish or otherwise. Right, who are these lot? They are from Detroit and despite the name are neither Jamaican nor...I don’t think.. are Queens. A lot of people are trying to smooth out the Animal Collective sound for human consumption and these are no different.

Using the low end bubbly bass, squeaky electronics and shouted vocal style, they sound a little  more like Jagwar Ma who are proving incredibly popular on daytime radio for some inexplicable reason. The B side is altogether more remarkable. It has a wierd off kilter sound, madcap vocals wavering around and sounds alarmingly like The Cardiacs which pleases me no end before going off into a wierd breakdown that reminds me of Grandaddy. Oddball, catchy pop that might catch on.
