- Episode One C40 by Master Jet The Destroyer
This tape comes housed in a chunky video style box which makes it look like a weird old computer game, and on the cassette itself we’ve got further weirdness from Master Jet the Destroyer (aka Joe Deal aka Acid Quiff/Art Brunell/The Conformist), rendering broken, twitchy acid soundscapes in glorious analogue; pings and bleeps and rumbles, chopped-up chirrups and wibbly drones.
In places it’s pretty experimental, freeform dystopian flotsam, while elsewhere Deal rides the beat for something more focused and danceable (yet still mildly chaotic and broken-sounding, slightly Hacker Farm-ish at times), with cosmic acid techno madness and slow-stomping giant robot grooves vying for your attention in amongst the mind-warping scrambled weirdness. There’s 40 minutes of it, which for this price seems like a real bargain. Get it while it’s here! Volume Two to follow, apparently.
