This collection of kindergarten Converge tracks captures the band in an enjoyably ramshackle state, before the tightening of the pummel-lords ship. Caring And Killing: The Early Years 1991-1994 collects sixteen tracks culled from EPs, comp appearances and the Halo in a Haystack album. On double LP from Hydrahead.

I discovered Converge in the late 90's with the CD version of this compilation I had not listened to in ages, but could not resist buying this vinyl edition.

It is a great reminder of where I, and probably a lot of "alt-heavy music", come from.

Even if the band's sound is not yet the one that made them famous from "Jane Doe" on, it shows how it evolved from its "hardcore-punk" background to the genre-defying band Converge has now become.

This double vinyl edition is beautifully packaged and is definitely worth buying for anyone into innovative hardcore in general, or into Converge in particular.
