- Agemo’s Trip To Mother Earth by Group 1850

Once again this week some really great titles have turned up in the middle of Friday afternoon and now I have to try and rush off some reviews of them where I pretend I know what I’m talking about despite plainly not having the time to do any sort of research. This one’s by Group 1850 and is an LP of triumphant Dutch psych-rock from the late 1960s, ranging from sweeping arranged psych-pop to crazy improvised weirdness with phased drums and babbling vocals. This is truly psychedelic stuff, not just people widdling about - it actually is making me feel like I’m on drugs here.
The epic centrepiece ‘I put my hands on your shoulder’ is an epic psych-prog masterpiece which sounds years ahead of its time, while in other places they sound precisely OF their time, such as the sax-soaked hippie groover ‘You did it too hard’, while the following track ‘A point in this life’ is my personal highlight with its far-out organ and guitar duet. Either way there’s far too much for me to digest and properly dissect in the half hour or so I have to review this, but I’m really impressed! Pressing of 500 so these won’t last long!
